I have been liaising with my colleague, Bill Bowman MSP, about the
Broughty Ferry Post Office. The latest update from Post Office Ltd advised that
it is currently engaging with retailers who have shown an interest, but it hasn’t
been able to give a timescale for when a new service will be established.
As well as seeking a longer term outcome
its field team are continuing to look for a short term temporary solution that will
allow a service to be restored in the meantime. Some residents suggested to me
that a mobile facility might be the answer for a temporary fix, however Post Office
Ltd has said this isn’t an option as mobile Post Office services are run by postmasters
as part of their core Post Office business and no mobile service exists in the
area.
I was pleased to see that a commitment has again been given to providing
a Post Office service in Broughty Ferry. It’s just a pity it’s taking so long.
